70-years-old experience of the plants introduction of natural flora in the main botanical garden named after N. V. Tsitsin RAS

Flora Department was founded in 1945. Studies on native Russian flora diversity, devising theoretical foundations and methods of plant introduction, protection of biodiversity are subjects of its scientific researches. Materials of the department creation history are presented in the article. The main directions of scientific investigations, experimental works and their results are considered.
