95th anniversary of the commonwealth of science and practice in the forests of the Middle Volga region

The article presents a historical overview of the research activities of the East European Forest Experimental Station for 95 years of its existence. The main task that the staff of the station solves during this time is scientific support of forestry on the territory of the republics: Tatarstan, Chuvashia, Udmurtia, Mordovia, Mari El, Ulyanovsk and Orenburg regions. The main areas of research are: forestry, forest crops, selection and seed business, protective afforestation, protection of forests from pests and diseases, organization of forestry production and forest exploitation issues. The developed recommendations, reference books and standards contributed to the progressive development of forestry in the Middle Volga region and the northwestern region of Russia (logging with preservation of undergrowth).
