Adaptation of adult foreign citizens and their integration into the Russian society in a metropolis: the role of the quality of relations, cultural and historical events

The problem of adaptation of foreign citizens in Russia has not lost its relevance for many years. To facilitate this process and strengthen economic, social, and cultural ties, it is necessary to integrate expats and their families into the Russian society. In this regard, the authors within the framework of the study solve the following tasks: 1) collecting and processing relevant data on the problems of such integration and adaptation; 2) after analyzing the processed data, to identify the difficulties and potential for the integration of foreign citizens into the Russian society; 3) to develop proposals and approaches to solving the identified problems and forming «growth points» of the positive practice of integrating foreign citizens in Russia. The solution of these tasks is aimed at developing approaches and recommendations for socio-cultural adaptation and integration of adult foreign citizens into the Russian society in a metropolis. This article is the first published part of the authors' study. The authors' research makes it possible to find out the opinion of the participants in relations in the process of socio-cultural integration of foreign citizens in Russia and to develop approaches to their adaptation.
