In conditions of vegetation experiment and phytotron the authors studied the adaptive ability of different varieties of winter wheat to low temperature stress in connection with level of mineral nutrition, estimated the dynamics of linear growth of leaves, knots of tillering and roots, and also determined the content of different form of nitrogen and sugar, the intensity of photosynthesis and respiration in connection with hardening conditions and temperature stress. It was shown, that the plants of the frost resistant Zvezda variety during II-III stage organogenesis have low activity of growth processes in leaves and knots of tillering and have high speed of development of organogenesis stages. The higher nitrogen content in soil increases the intensity of respiration, content of nitrogen in protein form, but decreases the sucrose content in plants in frost conditions. The biological regularity of defense reaction complex in winter wheat in conditions of different mineral nutrition and their theoretical and practical importance were discussed.
