Agroforestry and shelterbelts: role in sustainable agriculture systems

The article examines the importance of forest shelter plantings aimed at the sustainable development of agricultural landscapes. It discusses the history and prerequisites for the emergence of agroforestry. The role of shelterbelts in enhancing crop yields and protecting against erosion is emphasized. Environmental aspects, such as microclimate improvement, as well as economic and social benefits, are highlighted. Several challenges associated with establishing protective plantings are also presented.
