Construction of airfields by the NKVD of the USSR on the eve and during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1943)

The article dwells upon the subject of airfields construction of in the Volga Region in the years 1941-1943, specifically analyzed are the examples of Kuybyshev and Stalingrad regions. Interaction of the NKVD economic departments with offices of other people's commissariats is analyzed. The author deals in detail with conflicts arising between the said bodies; and reveals the role of regional party bodies as arbitrators which settled economic issues between the NKVD construction departments and local rural administration.
