The academy of sciences of the USSR and the study of Northern Asia, 1930's-1941

The article is devoted to the research activities of the institutions and staff of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in the North of Siberia in 1930s - 1941. The beginning of this period is associated with the reorganization of the Academy and its actual «Sovietization», and the end of the period marks the restructuring of scientific work in accordance with the requirements of wartime. The author determines the allunion and regional factors that affected the extent and vectors of academic research in the Northern Asia in the period, names the main implemented research initiatives, describes the main features of the period in the history of the study of Northern Asia by the Academy of Sciences, as well as its importance for the development of fundamental and applied knowledge of the region.
