The Akchurins were major Simbirsk wool manufacturers, land owners, descendants from a renowned family of honorary citizens, merchants belonging to the top guild. Members of the family made a significant contribution to the development of the Russian industry. Their charity work serves as an example for modern Tatar entrepreneurs. Akchurins' life and legacy became the focus of close study only in contemporary history including the works of the Tatar-Turkish social activist Yusuf Akcura. The Akchurins' Simbirsk property until 1918 is not studied well. Most of the buildings are under the threat of distruction. Finding and identification the buildings associated with the Akchurins should help include them into the list of government-protected buildings and save them for the future generations.
