The modern technology of harvesting of grain crops with the grinding grain part of a crop, for use in the quality organic fertilizer are analized. The urgency of updating of indicators that characterize the quality of the technological processes is justified. Based on the study of actual indicators of quality crushing and spreading straw in terms of industrial exploitation harvester combines existing and agronomic requirements, the basic requirements for the largest size range of the width of the distribution and quantitative characteristics of stem deformation are formulated. It has been proposed to provide: fractional composition of the particles crushed to 100 mm - in the amount not less than 90%; particles larger than 150 mm - less than 3%; uniform spreading width of the chopped straw to not less than a combine header width; uneven distribution of chopped straw on the passage width of the header - not more than 30%; uneven values ​​medium-sized chopped straw particles header working width - no more than 10%.
