Activities of the Constitutional courts in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation implement a principle of the federative state. In those constituent entities of the Federation where constitutional courts are established and function successfully, they operate within a single legal framework and exercise constitutional justice. On October 25th 1994, People's Khural of the Republic of Buryatia adopted the law “On the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Buryatia”. Field of work of this Constitutional judicial body is identical to other courts functioning in different constituent entities of the federation. However, right now there is a debate about the necessity of the separate Constitutional court at the regional level. The problems that the court is facing now include lack of funding, lack of support from the parliament of the republic, and others. Finding solutions for these and other questions is the most pressing and crucial task, both for the Constitutional Court and regional authorities.
