Based on the treatment outcomes of 1308 patients with primary skin melanoma, recommendations for performing adequate surgery with respect to the extent of tumor involvement have been given. To determine the extent of skin melanoma involvement, ultrasonic dopplerography with color mapping of regional lymph nodes seems to be advisable.
