Topical issues of Siberian oriental research

October 5−6, 2012 in celebration of the 50 th anniversary of the Faculty of Humanities of Novosibirsk State University at the Department of Oriental Studies there was held a scientific conference «Topical Issues of Siberian Oriental Research». The conference was attended by university scholars not only from different regions of Siberia and the Far East but also from abroad. The Department staff and guests presented their investigation results of most pressing problems in different fields of the global orientalism involving archeology, history, ethnology, cultural anthropology, pedagogy, methodology, archives and bibliography. In various scientific and methodological discussions there was highlighted the importance of developing Siberian Oriental Research as part and parcel of global and Russian studies of the East.
