Acoustic tomography of linden wood

The aim of the work was to study the speed of sound pulses in small-leaved Linden (Tilia cordata Mill.)wood. 20 trees were examined. Average speed of the sound pulse in the linden wood of small healthy trees is 696 m/s; in the medium category of size - 820 m/s. All large Linden trees in the trunk was noted in the medullary rot. The speed of the sound pulse in the Linden trunk less than 600 m/s indicates the presence of rot, the speed of the sound pulse less than 400 m / s indicates the hollow.
