Modern mechanical engineering is characterized by increased requirements for the geometrical production quality parameters of part’s surfaces - dimensional accuracy, shape and relative position of the surfaces deviations, their waviness and microgeometry parameters which determine contact deformations and stiffness of joints, sealing connections, coat adhesive strength that characterize the friction and wear of surfaces. This article describes the results of studies carried out in the research “Calculation of microgeometry parameters of the block cylinder liner working surface processing with plateau honing”. The information on the relevance of modeling microgeometry parameters is presented. Internal combustion engine is one of the most responsible components of a car. The tendency of internal combustion engines development is efficiency improving. Development of internal combustion engines is accompanied by a negative tribological factors: a higher load level, speed and temperature of combustion. Tribosystems including the interaction between the piston rings and cylinder have the highest level of mechanical losses in internal combustion engines. States of friction depends on conditions such as the relative speed, lubricant parameters, the normal force, which determined by design parameters and operational mode. Therefore, the macro- and micro-geometry of the working surface of the cylinder have a significant influence. Microgeometry is defined by functional parameters of the surface roughness and its tolerances. Thus, the form and magnitude of the changes in the profile describes the micro-relief profile within the measuring section. The algorithm of surface microgeometry formation by plateau honing processing is presented. In this algorithm the operation of topography forming of part’s microrelief after finish processing is represented as a set of the microprofile process characteristics forming and technological parameters. Process of treated surface forming is considered as a transformation of the working surface of the instrument geometry to the original surface of the workpiece. The modeling results are illustrated. The main ways of research development are presented.
