Transformer protection algorithms to detect internal short-circuits

This article provides a description of protection based on the transformer model. The protection described by the authors does not require calculations and does not depend on the operating mode of the power system. The sensitivity of the protection ensures the detection of internal coil short circuits and short circuits in the case of a power transformer. The article compares the proposed algorithm with an improved version of differential protection, which is capable of fixing most of the internal short circuits of the transformer.
