Allegory in the Spanish sentimental novel and courtly poetry of the 15th century

The article provides a comparative analysis of the Spanish sentimental story by Diego de San Pedro “The Captivity of Love” and the short poem by Jorge Manrique “The Castle of Love” from the point of view of using allegory. Comparison of central images, analysis at the level of lexical units, allows us to conclude that courtly poetry is directly connected with sentimental tale and its influence on the latter.
