Analytical overview of methodologies calculating missions and absorption of greenhouse gases by forests from the atmosphere

The review collected and analyzed published in the open press scientific works and applied methods of accounting for emissions and absorption of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere by forests. The characteristics of the features of Russian forests participating in greenhouse gas emissions and absorption that are necessary to take into account when developing the accounting methodology are given. A comparative analysis of existing estimates of the Russian forest's absorption of greenhouse gases from the atmosphere has been performed. Methodical approaches for the development of the draft of the Methodological Guidelines for Quantitative Assessment of CO2 Absorption in Forests of the Russian Federation are substantiated.
