Analytical study of consumption of vegetables in the regions of the Russian Federation

The article presents a study of vegetable consumption in the regions of the Russian Federation. It deals with the accounting of rational consumption norms for the main food groups per one person per year, corresponding to the requirements of a healthy diet. The research algorithm includes an assessment of the dynamics of volumes of vegetable consumption by the population of the regions of the Russian Federation (with graphical plotting of a trend line for the future); reflection of the current volume of consumption of vegetables by federal districts; a grouping of constituent entities of the Russian Federation, depending on established criteria. Particular attention in the study of the dynamics of consumption of vegetables and gourds was given to grouping its dependence on the established criteria for the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, which included: the average annual increase in consumption of vegetables and gourds (which showed a deviation from the recommended rational norms of consumption and a general tendency to decrease it); average per capita cash income of the population of the regions (depending on the minimum fixed level, average and maximum values according to data for 2018); prevailing average retail prices in the consumer market; self-sufficiency level for a specified food group in the region (based on the calculation of self-sufficiency coefficient). In accordance with the proposed algorithm, after a case-by-case study, it was determined as a general conclusion that it is precisely the incomes of the population and the level of existing agricultural production within the regions of the Russian Federation that have the greatest influence on the level of consumption of vegetables.
