Бесплатный доступ

This article examines the phenomenon of 躺平 (tǎngpíng) among modern Chinese youth and explores the causes and consequences of this trend. Tangping is a term that symbolizes the rejection by young people in China of the traditional notion of success, which is typically associated with hard work and high achievement. The findings of this study indicate that key factors contributing to the emergence of tangping include social expectations, a saturated labor market, and a widespread sense of helplessness. Furthermore, the phenomenon has a significant impact on education, employment, and social stability. The paper concludes that tangping reflects growing discontent with traditional values among Chinese youth, driven by institutional pressures related to work, study, and family.
