The analysis of the company’s business environment by means of patent information and patent landscape software

The paper describes the guidelines for big data handling tool when analyzing patent information. Nowadays, the innovation management decisions are made on the basis of the patent search results reflecting the current situation on the intellectual property market. The relevance of the issue is determined by the fact that it is in line with the strategic priority to develop the digital economy in Russia. The study notes the need to assess the external environment of a company to determine the competitive advantages prior to initiating an innovative project. Using special apps for the construction of patent landscapes demonstrates the current status of the organization on the intellectual property market. The author investigates worldwide patent map apps. The research discusses the main advantages and disadvantages of existing software products for constructing patent landscapes and identifies a range of potential users of such apps.
