Analysis of DDoS-attacks on the Russian banking sector and a mechanism to counter them based on blockchain technology

This study is devoted to the analysis of a number of applied issues of the protective mechanisms of the Russian banking sector against cyberattacks, such as quantitative and qualitative characteristics of DDoS attacks for 2022-2024, TOP attacked industries within the Anti-DDoS service, consequences of DDoS attacks on Russian banks, as well as mechanisms for countering such attacks. The article analyzes DDoS attacks aimed at the Russian banking sector, including characteristics, cyber threat protection strategies and consequences for banking institutions. The purpose of the study is to assess the growing threat of DDoS attacks for Russian banks and determine the necessary protection measures, including the introduction of innovative technologies. The analysis uses statistical data on DDoS attacks in 2022-2024, including information on the maximum and average attack power in different units of measurement, their types and prevalence. In addition, a comparative analysis of the reasons for the increase in the number of denial-of-service cyber attacks and suggestions of a way to neutralize them were applied. To reduce risks and ensure security, the author recommends the introduction of DDoS-Secure, a security service based on blockchain technologies that automatically filters traffic and blocks anomalies, helping to optimize the protection of vulnerable resources of the banking infrastructure.
