The article is devoted to the analysis of the discourse of response to the speech act of promise together with some other acts. The research takes place in the limits of the theory of speech acts. The author focuses on perlocutionary acts, namely on an addressee's responses to the speech act of promise. The analysis of the examples taken from fiction reveals some types and peculiarities of addressees' responses.
