The association plays a significant role in strengthening global economic governance at a time when the world economy is facing severe setbacks to recovery and global development has suffered serious setbacks amid the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. The leading role in BRICS belongs to China, whose capabilities and capacities far exceed those of the other members. At the same time, participation in the association has a dual impact on the PRC’s economic success and resilience. In this context, the article is devoted to analyzing the factor impact of BRICS on China’s economic security. In the process of the research such factors as: transformation of the system of global economic governance, expansion of investment opportunities, support and promotion of the Belt and Road Initiative, competition with the United States, retention and strengthening of supply chains are considered. Special attention is also paid to the threats that result from the BRICS members’ realization of their national interests with partners such as the EU and the US.
