Reducing labor, material and energy costs in obtaining castings, along with improving the quality of products is one of the main objectives of foundry engineering. Development and improvement of computational and experimental methods for predicting the properties of liquid glass binding compositions for the manufacture of cores, molds and antiburning coatings based on the study of physical and chemical processes of formation of their structure, are among the most urgent scientific and technical programs of mechanical engineering. The main purpose of the paper is to provide scientific advice and techniques for the implementation of knowledge about the formation of the structure and interactions of molds and core mixtures with the molten metal in the manufacture of castings.
