In work studied and analyzed modernization of jet engine testing facility for serial and experimental tests. Engine for research is low-bypass three-spool turbofan with afterburner. Described tested engine, its features, construction of facility, parameters and requirements for the tests. Design of the test stand, requirements for modernization are given. Elements of the facility are described: technological systems, engineering networks, electrical networks, automated engine testing system, construction works. Problems and solutions about modernization are given. According to received information during modernization, was suggested an algorithm for the modernization of aviation test stands: from preparation of the technical assignment up to the attestation of the facility. Algorithm was tested during modernization works for other types of engines stands: a turboprop and a small-sized gas turbine engine. The reconstruction of the test stand of the turboprop engine NK-12 was studied according to the algorithm. The technique is tested for small-sized gas turbine engine test stand. The article is addressed to engineers and technicians of aircraft engine bureaus, scientists and management personnel who are starting work on upgrading or designing a test facility for aviation engines.
