Analysis and assessment of the electricity market in the Samara region

The presence of large generating capacity and favorable geographical location of the region makes it possible to meet the demand for energy. Samara region is not included in the list of energy-deficient regions of the Russian Federation. Nevertheless, systemic difficulties have accumulated over the decades in the electric power industry of the Samara Region, which require an immediate solution. The annual rise in electricity consumption in the Samara region in recent years is 4%. At this rate, in two or three years, the system will begin to limit the connection of new loads to consumers in large areas.
