This article presents a statistical study of the population of the Sakhalin region from 2013 to 2017. Theoretical bases of the population analysis are considered. In addition, this work is devoted to the correlation and regression analysis of the population of the territory, which allows to determine the main socio-economic indicators that have the greatest impact on the demographic trend. Also on the basis of the analysis carried out forecast of the population of the Sakhalinskaya Oblast until 2025.
