Analysis of the ideological conflict between Eric Zemmour and Marion Mareschal in the context of the European elections of 2024

This article analyzes the political partnership between Marion Maréchal and Eric Zemmour, which was formed within the framework of the Reconquête movement created by E. Zemmour in 2022. M. Marechal joined this movement as head of the list in the European elections, supporting E. Zemmour and sharing nationalist and conservative values. However, this partnership is now in crisis due to growing ideological and strategic differences. E. Zemmour criticizes Marine Le Pen's Rassemblement Nationale (RN), while M. Maréchal favors the unification of the right and takes a more conciliatory approach to the RN. This crisis highlights the challenges faced by nationalist and populist movements in France, which are experiencing internal contradictions and struggling to develop an effective political strategy. This article focuses on analyzing the ideological crisis of the Reconquête and its preconditions, as well as assessing the consequences of such a crisis for the party.
