Analysis of innovative potential of the region

The essence of the notion of «innovative potential» is considered in the article. The necessity for its research on the regional level is substantiated. Peculiarities of the task-orientated development of the innovative potential are traces; basic characteristics for innovations in different spheres of activity are given. After the example of the Penza Region the analysis of innovative activity is made.
