The reasons for the need to replace traditional fuels are listed. The advantages of using biogas as an alternative fuel are presented. The analysis of the state of the biogas industry in the Russian Federation is carried out, the reasons that hinder its development are identified. The prospects in this area are considered. It is concluded that due to the use of bioresources, the country can fully meet its energy needs.
