Analysis of approaches to the concept of job satisfaction

The article is devoted the problem of satisfaction of person with his professional activities. It examines different approaches to understanding the phenomenon of job satisfaction, the analysis of their evolution in the works of domestic and Western scholars, describes the strengths and weaknesses of different interpretations of the concept of satisfaction. Almost a third of his life a person spends at work. In the labour force, he reveals himself as a person, implements the physical and mental potential, using your skills and gives knowledge previously acquired. It is the job satisfaction helps a man to feel realized and allows to feel the psychological comfort and create a sense of harmony with the surrounding world. In the case of dissatisfaction with work, the employee may provoke conflict relationships with colleagues and undermine customer loyalty towards the company. Analysis of the literature tells us that there are several approaches to the definition of “job satisfaction”, which will be discussed in detail in this article. In the first approach, job satisfaction is considered as relevant to the activities, which takes account of the desires, values, preferences and principles of man. In this case, it is mandatory to focus on the concept of “attitude”, which acts as a bridge between the social and the psychological. The second approach interprets the concept of “job satisfaction” from the point of view of emotional-mental state of a person. It is important to note that it is considered in a specific point in time. The third approach says that the concept of job satisfaction is the assessment of the man labor situation. In the fourth approach, the satisfaction of labor considered as a set of social attitudes, including cognitive, emotional, and behavioral components. The fifth approach treats satisfaction as a motivation.
