The purpose of the study is to analyze foreign experience in regulating digital financial assets. Growing challenges and threats stemming from the digitalization of the financial sector and the emergence of new high-tech financial instruments necessitate understanding and addressing new ML/FT risks to ensure national economic security. Therefore, it is particularly important to consider the experience of other countries for potential adoption of positive practices. This paper examines the key areas and specifics of digital financial asset (DFA) regulation in the United States. The paper presents the main regulatory framework. It is noted that the same principles governing traditional financial instruments apply to DFA. The authors identify the key vulnerabilities associated with new financial instruments and describe key measures for identifying and preventing illegal schemes involving DFA. The paper also highlights the use of artificial intelligence technologies to implement requirements to combat money laundering and the financing of terrorism.
