Analysis of tax payments in North-Western federal district: facts and trends

The article focuses on the study of the spatial patterns of economic development of the NorthWest Federal District. They are reflected in the tax payments received by the budgetary system of Russia from the territory of the macro-region. The study confirmed the dominant influence on the trend of increasing the number of stagnant regions. The author defined the group of factors that have led to the strengthening of the uneven distribution of tax revenues within the boundaries of the macro-region and by economic activity. These factors have caused structural changes in the distribution of tax payments. The research conclusions about the nature of the imbalances in the distribution of tax payments, and the most pronounced trends in their distribution.
