Analysis of the role of BRICS in the formation of a multipolar world based on the world-system approach

The ongoing world processes, conditioned by historical and economic patterns, testify to the collapse of Western hegemony and neocolonialism, the possibility of the formation of a multipolar world and a new international order based on justice and mutual respect. The purpose of the study is to analyze the economic potential of the BRICS interstate association and its role in the formation of a multipolar world. The methodology of the study is the world-system approach, which studies the evolution of a set of civilizations and socio-economic systems, as well as the theory of a multipolar world. As a result, it is revealed that over the past decades, BRICS has become a key player in the world economy, and its economic potential has grown significantly. In 2022-2023, it accounts for 29.3% of the world’s GDP, in terms of purchasing power parity, this figure is 37%, the global population is 46%, and the territory is 36% of the planet’s area. BRICS is becoming a powerful regional integration association capable of forming a new world-systemic order. In this association, Russia and China stand for the coordination of interaction, stability and prosperity of the world, as well as the establishment of a dialogue with other countries, the expansion of trust, trade and economic ties, the creation of a new security architecture, the establishment of new regional integration ties, and support for regional initiatives.
