Saint-Petersburg heat and electricity system analysis: starting conditions for the electric heat supply introduction

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of the heat and electricity supplysystem of St. Petersburg and identifies promising directions of development ofheat supply, based on the characteristics of its functioning and resources. Forthe characteristics of the power complex of St. Petersburg and Leningrad region,the structure of energy production is presented and its major producers aredemonstrated. On this basis, the features of the electric heat supply that makesits implementation feasible in today’s environment are highlighted. Based on theanalysis the authors offer solutions to ensure the effectiveness of the introduction ofthe electric heat supply with the purpose of increase of efficiency of energy systemof the city.
