Analysis of the state of the pharmaceutical industry in the Russian Federation

The article examines the state of the pharmaceutical industry in modern economic and geopolitical conditions. In the face of unprecedented sanctions pressure, pharmaceutical companies are successfully implementing the Pharma 2030 program. Naturally, government support for the industry, the forms of which are discussed in the article, plays a crucial role in the current conditions. The approach proposed by Farrell, which determines the effectiveness of business units based on their existing production capabilities, was used to assess the effectiveness of the use of their potential by industry enterprises. The work used the DEA model developed by Charnes, Cooper, and Rhodes, an output-oriented model that maximizes the value of the output variable when the values of the input variables are set. A random sample of 85 companies was used as the research material. For an objective assessment, all companies were divided into nine clusters using the K-means method. . The comparison was carried out within clusters. The values of the efficiency coefficients for each company were obtained, as well as the recommended values of the input variables that bring the company to unit efficiency. The results of the study may be useful for pharmaceutical business professionals, researchers, and government agencies involved in regulating this field in order to develop mechanisms to improve the efficiency of Russian pharmaceutical industry enterprises.
