Analysis of modern cluster policy in Lombardy and its importance for regional economic development

The article is devoted to the analysis of modern cluster policy in the Lombardy region. The article examines the key elements of the cluster policy of the Lombardy region and provides an overview of the cluster landscape of Lombardy. It is shown that the participation of clusters in regional economic management, policy development and implementation at the regional level is of paramount importance for the regional economic development of Lombardy. The importance of clusters for the competitiveness of the regional economy is revealed. Lombardy’s regional clusters have a stimulating effect on the economic performance and economic growth of the Italian economy. It should be noted that the strength of Lombardy as one of the leading industrial regions in Europe is reflected in its agglomeration structure and relatively high concentration of clusters. It has been revealed that clusters are a proven method of stimulating long-term growth and innovation activity at the regional level. Clusters play an important role in the development and implementation of Smart Specialization (S3) Strategies, as the key elements are to promote economic growth and competitiveness through regional proximity.
