This article reveals the essence of blockchain as an innovative technology with a decentralized structure and a high degree of transparency. A brief description of 6 main areas of blockchain use is given. Its advantages and limitations are revealed. It is concluded that blockchain, as a technology with wide capabilities, has a powerful potential for further strengthening and transformation of the digital economy.
