Non-cancer thyroid morbidity in children of the Kaluga oblast, exposed to iodine-131 following the Chernobyl accident in utero, or been newborns and infants is studied. The level of contamination of their houses with iodine-131 and alimentary iodine sufficiency were similar in the three groups. At the same time, thyroid morbidity was significantly lower in children exposed to radioiodine in utero. No significant difference in the thyroid morbidity was found in those, who exposed to radioiodine after the birth.
