The research objective was studying anatomic and topographical features of bones of brain department of the skeleton of the head of a Japanese quail. As objects the corpses of adult Japanese quails served (n = 6). Using the methods of boiling down and maceration 6 osteological preparations which were also studied by means of a digital X-ray analysis were made and investigated. Occipital bone consists of four bones fused together: unpaired - the main occipital and supra occipital, as well as the outer pair of the occipital, which are involved in the formation of a large occipital foramen. In quails, the occipital foramen is rounded triangular in shape. They participate in formation of a big occipital opening which at a quail has a rounded triangular form. Wedge-shaped bone in quail consists of four bones: the main wedge-shaped, paired side wedge-shaped and near-shaped, merging into a single bone. Temporal bone is coupled, consists of scal and stony bone, participates in the formation of lateral wall of middle and posterior cranial fossae and serves as a receptacle of the middle and inner ear...
