The English language in professional intercultural communication

Current aspects of teaching and learning English as a means of intercultural communication in the professional sphere are discussed. It is shown that the development of English as a lingva franca is largely based on the modeling of real speech situations. In this context, the author analyzes the experience of conducting student scientific and practical conferences in English among students and undergraduates of natural Sciences of the far Eastern Federal University. The conclusion is based on the very high efficiency of these conferences in the formation of students as professionals who are able to communicate in English in their field.
