Development of beam-steerable antenna systems, where frequency scanning combined with electronic control offers potential, eliminating the need for phase shifters, is a rather actual challenge nowadays. This study focuses on the modeling of an antenna system based on a Luneberg lens with hybrid scanning: frequency scanning in elevation and electronic scanning in azimuth. Electrodynamic modeling in the 8–13 GHz range revealed that the system provides full-azimuth electronic and sectoral frequency scanning, demonstrating broadband beam steering. The results obtained allow to recommend the development for use in detection systems for highly mobile robotic systems, due to its key feature – function of the implementation of two-dimensional scanning using a combination of frequency scanning and port switching. An antenna system with hybrid frequency-electronic scanning based on beam formation by a Luneberg lens was developed and its characteristics were obtained through electrodynamic modeling.
