The article considers the policy of the Soviet state regarding the Russian Orthodox Church during the prewar period. In particular, on the basis of the materials of the State Archives of Primorsky Krai and Khabarovsk Krai, the author studies the special features of relations between the power structures and the Orthodox Church in the Far East in the second half of the 1930-s.
