Literature about the war is a deeply traditional and constantly evolving phenomenon. Its phenomenon is in evident desire to continue the tradition of classical Russian literature, while showing controversy with its individual postulates. This article is devoted to the influence of anti-war traditions rooted by Leo Tolstoy on the modern Russian prose about the war. Such Leo Tolstoy’s techniques as a antithesis, the distribution of different types of characters during the war, the proclamation of the philosophy of "non-resistance" and others have become the part of the art world of the modern authors.
