Anthropological plastic reconstructions in the museum expositions

The article considers the issues of using plastic anthropological reconstructions in the expositions of the Russian museums. The information about the formation of the plastic facial reconstruction method on the skull developed by M.M. Gerasimov and of the first collections is given. The activity of the staff of the Laboratory of plastic anthropological reconstruction of the Center of physical anthropology of the Institute of ethnology and anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences in the development and popularization of this branch of science is traced. The data concerning the main collections of the plastic reconstructions in the museums of Russia and Buryatia are given.
