Anthropologic status of insanity and establishment of psychiatry

The article deals with formation of psychiatry as a legitimate field of the medical professional discourse from 17 th till 19 th centuries. For a long time the reasons of mental diseases were considered to be the supernatural intrusion which impeded with explaining the insanity by anthropological reasons. Thus, the transition of the mental disorders to the medical discourse field was delayed for almost two centuries.
