The birthplace of shiitake mushroom is China, Korea and Japan. The existence of the shiitake mushroom has been known since ancient times and one of natural habitats of shiitake mushrooms is the village of Chanhyn, South Korea. The first mention of mushrooms "phyogo" is found in Chanhyn, the historical records from 1454. Shiitake in Russia is found in Primorsky Region (the south-ern part), Partizansk, Shkotovo, Hasan, Muraviev-Amur, Ussuriysk, Khabarovsky Region and Sakha-lin. The purpose of the study is to identify shiitake mushroom habitats (Lentinula edodes (Berk.) Peg-ler) on the territory of Primorsky Region. The re-search has been conducted on the territory of Primorsky Region in the following areas: Spassky, Chernigovsky, Pozharsky, Kavalerovskiy, Chuguevsky, Krasnoarmeisky, Dalnegorsky and Terneisky. During the research the shiitake habitat was noticed on the territory of Primorsky Region. The places where the mushroom was discovered were charted in the administrative areas of Primorsky Region. The species on which the mush-room grew and developed were being identified. It was discovered that the Mongolian oak is the main species serving as a favorable substrate for the development of shiitake kames. Also sporadic specimens were noted on the white birch. Thus, shiitake mushroom was discovered in the areas of interest, which suggests the widespread distribution of this mushroom on the territory of Primorsky Re-gion. The development of kames in proportions depends on the habitat, the more northern the point of growth, the lesser the amount of shiitake mush-rooms is. It was also mentioned that shiitake grow-ing on other species is connected with the change of forest formations.
