The article discusses the relationship between the cognitive characteristics of the archetypal binary opposition LIGHT/DARK and methods of public consciousness manipulation, which are actively used in the contemporary American political media discourse. The subject of the analysis is the evaluative characteristic of the ABO, promoting the actualization of some manipulative techniques.
