The article is dedicated to certain aspects of studying the heritage of the prominent Church figure, diplomat and outstanding scientist of the 19th century Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin). One of the most difficult problems in compiling a catalog of the scholar’s works is determining whether various texts published under various pen names or anonymously belong to the Archimandrite. In this article, the question of whether two articles in Khersonskie Eparkhialʹnye Vedomosti , which were known to be attributed to another author, belong to Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin). The analysis of these two works dedicated to the history of the relations between Russia and Mount Athos in the 1860s makes it possible for one to restore their authorship to Archimandrite Leonid (Kavelin) based on the analysis of a number of attribution features.
