Architectural and construction legislation of the Russian Empire of the 18th century

The article examines the features of legislative regulation of architectural and construction policy in the Russian Empire of the 18th century. The main trends of this process are identified, legal acts are assessed, and scientific works that touch on this topic are also analyzed. It is noted that, in general, the foundations of architecture and construction were laid during the period under review, including requirements for urban planning, materials used, the introduction of structural building codes, etc. Particular attention is paid to the laws in this area adopted during the reign of Peter I and Catherine II, given that during their reigns, strategic directions for the development of architectural and construction legislation were determined.
